From AAOS: Sony Debuts HD Medical Monitor, Recorders to Orthopedic Industry

Sony Medical unveiled its high-definition medical recorders and surgica monitors to the orthopedic community this week at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, Nev. (March 25-28).

The recorders allow clinicians to improve workflow and share video from various surgical and diagnostic procedures. They also deliver improved image quality and more flexibility with recording and review of a range of medical procedures, according to the company.

Sony claims its 27-inch surgical monitor is the industry’s brightest, designed specifically for use in operating rooms, medical centers, clinics and doctors’ offices. The monitor’s screen provides a larger viewing area and fits onto the same carts and boom arms that currently fit 26- inch models.

The new monitor features Sony’s OptiContrast Panel technology, which replaces the layer of air between the panel and glass with a layer of resin specially formulated to match the refractive properties of the glass, designed to produce high-contrast images, minimize glare, and increase brightness. The monitor incorporates an edge-to-edge glass protection panel with a narrow bezel, robust aluminum housing and a removable rear cover to hide connectors and manage cables neatly.

The 27-inch monitor is available in two versions: the LMD-2760MD (digital only interface) and the LMD-2765MD (digital and analog interface) and it displays full high-definition (1920×1080) images from surgical endoscope/laparoscopic camera system and other compatible medical imaging systems.
